Nice pool area, but the room they gave us was dirty and no way near a four star room. I have to give credit for the pool area. It is large enough to give space for children and adults. It is clean and had enough sunbeds, and a pool bar serving snacks and drinks all day long. The people working around the pool are helpful and smiling. I would have liked to say it was relaxing, but sadly - the continuos, non-stop loud radio-music was too anoying. But 3500 euro for two grown ups and three children (9, 13, 14) is a robbery. We stayed there for 6 nights, almost 600 euro a night. Breakfast was included. More about that later. So; we is it a robbery? We booked the rooms through Booking.com. The rooms we got were no way near deserving four stars, and absolutely nothing near the pictures in the presentation. My room was dark, dusty, dirty, filthy and probably not renovated since the eighties. I dont mind an old functional bathroom. I also dont mind simple furnitures. As long as this is what i was presented and chose. I was presented nice and clean rooms. I did not get any of it. When we came to the room i first noticed that i had to extinguish about 10 mosquitos. It is not the first time i experience this, but it is not a good start. Some areas have a problem with mosquitos. I accept that. But someone else had probably done the same before me, because i could see the marks on the walls from crushed mosquitos. We got rid of the mosquitos and prepared ourselves to go to sleep. As this was late july we wanted to use the air condition-system to cool down the room. The remotecontrol on the wall was so old and used we could not see numbers and figures to adjust it. We had to go to the hallway where the same remotecontrol luckily was readable. We later got to sleep, but sadly my nine year old daughter was freezing, because the AC blew cooling wind straight down on her sofabed. We made some adjustments and found a way way to cope with the cold breeze. I was actually pissed off after the first night, but decided not to ruin my familys holiday experience by quarreling with the management. Sometimes i manage to look the other way. After all, the pool area was ok, the children were in a good mood and we had sunny days. So instead of reporting it i chose to document why and how i had been ripped off. I took some pictures of the room that document how i was ripped of. First of all. The walls are dirty and full of stains. The corners in the roof were dusty. No person have vacuumed or wiped dust in the roof for years. Second, the wooden floor was full of marks. Not dirt, probably a shoe or a chair. No big issue, but certainly not the standard presented on the web-pictures. Third, an old chair had plastic coming out from the upholstery. Might be to protect the furniture from wet swimware, but not very elegant. Not a four-starexperience. Fourth, some of the skirting boards was lying loose on the floor. Why was it just lying there? Why was this not fixed? It was obviously broken, and looked like it had been for a long time. Fifth: the Wifi. The login-solution was terrible. Did not remember username and password from one session to another. How annoying is that??? Sixth: the second last day i had to use the toiletbrush, and was shocked. From the length of the brushes i would guess the toiletbrush was as old as myself (46 years). Disgusting. And shocking. What does this say about the standards of the hotel? Seventh: on the last day i went over the room to see if something was left behind. I looked under the bedside table and under the beds and it was full of dust. I would guess no one had been under there since before the pandemic. Have they had guests during the pandemic? If they have, they probably have not given their worst rooms. This was old dust. Filthy. Last but not least - the breakfast. I will try not to exaggerate. You get food. There is some variation. But there is no ambition. This could be a cheap public cafeteria. Serving the same every day. You get scrambled eggs. You get bacon. If you are lucky you get them at the same time, because it runs out quickly. You will not serve yourself. A guy with no mimicry serves you and says «Prego» when you are done. The rolls where decent, but also ran out so you would have to wait. One day i was early to breakfast and didn’t get rolls. I went away at 07:05, 35 minutes after the breakfast opened and had no rolls. Another day they ran out of rolls at 9:30. with an hour to go. Salad and vegetables? Sliced cucumber and some rucola. Not much to choose from. There was some fruit, we especially liked the ripe and tastefull peaches, but they also ran out occasionally. Drinks? Luke warm water. Juice from a dispenser. Warm milk. Not very tempting. So - what about the breakfast-coffee. Coffee is certainly important to hotel-guests, if you look at the waitingline for the two coffee-machines. You had to wait about three-five minutes to make yourself a cup of relatively poor coffee. It actually is possible to have a cup of coffee prepared from a «barrista», but you will have to find out yourself. No poster or personell informes you that you are allowed to have one cup per person prepared in the bar. I coincidently noticed on day three, when we sat close to the bar and i saw a person being served coffee. Why are they hiding this from people?? I dont have they answer, but it is in my opinion connected to the lack of ambition. For a public cafeteria this breakfast would be decent. For a four-star hotel it is far from decent. Am i unfair now? I dont think so. I have mentioned the pool area which is the main reason why we booked the rooms. Sunny days at a nice pool area has a worth for a norwegian family man living in a city where it is raining 300 days a year. I am willing to pay quite a lot for that. But give me the room i am presented on the pictures. Give me a clean room. And please, have some ambition on the meals. This was simply a poor performance. The right price? With a clean room, i would say 2000-2500 euro was acceptable. So in my opinion i have been ripped of for 1000-1500 euro.

Good location. But the rooms are aging, service at the reception desk is very poor. Almost no information was provided at checkin. Breakfast quality is mediocre.

Good stay but needs to be renovated

We had a good stay and especially enjoyed the spacious rooms and the nice pool areas. We were not so impressed by the breakfast facilities as it is very basic and lacking smoothies, fresh juices and healthy food. The buildings need to be renovated as the paint is piling off and looks are dated. The poolside wardrobes/ washrooms were especially sad and needs to be upgraded (the toilet seats are broken). We very much liked the good service at the reception and the good coffee at the pool bar.

A quiet location with lovely staff

I would recommend Mercure Tirrenia Green Park for a family holiday, as we had a really enjoyable one week stay at the hotel. The hotel’s grounds are beautiful and we loved the two swimming pools with life guards monitoring swimmers’ safety. There were plenty of well spaced sun loungers and the helpful staff provided drinks and snacks in the bar area beside the pools. Our deluxe hotel room was great with a decent size sofa bed for our tall daughter. My only criticism was the shower door over the bath which needed improving to stop water spillages. The Mercure Tirrenia staff are what makes the hotel special . Our room was kept spotless by dedicated room cleaners such as lovely Bruna. The friendly restaurant staff made meal times a real pleasure, as they even had our favourite drinks waiting for us on our table when we arrived for our evening meal at the end of our week . A musician playing at the poolside bar made night times there enjoyable for couples and families of all ages. The hotel is on the coastline near a lovely beach. It is in a very quiet location, but it has a good tour guide service on site. We were able to book a trip to Pisa through this service’s lovely guide, Rohina. We would definitely return to Mercure Tirrenia Green Park in the future . The only facility that the hotel could improve are the poolside toilets which would benefit from a schedule to monitor their cleanliness regularly throughout the day .

A serene and relaxed experience
