Firstly, a phone call was made the week before our booking, where it was confirmed we were able to bring 2 additional children. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and confirmed she would place a note on our booking and arrange for extra linen. Upon checking in, I was told that I was not allowed to have the children in the room. I’d suggested to pay for another room it was advised no rooms left, I then proceeded to ask for a refund, a no refund policy applies. Surely in this circumstance, something could have been done to provide better customer service. I was dissatisfied with the rude arrogant response provided by the front desk staff with no solution for my situation. I’ll also add here that there was no extra linen in the room, not even enough to cover our original booking, I’m not sure how 2 bath towels were going to suffice for 2 adults and one child. Also very dissatisfied that my booking reservation confirmed one king bed and one double sofa, only to get to the room to have one king bed and one SINGLE bed, I questioned this with the reception staff who rudely advised that because I’d had a child on the reservation originally the booking is automatically changed to a single bed, with no confirmation to me I assumed I was paying for a king bed and a double sofa! Overall extremely dissatisfied with my experience at this hotel and definitely will not be staying here again. I confirmed bringing two additional children and travelled 400kms to visit the Sydney zoo only to have this disappointing experience with our accomodation.

Overall it was a good stay, the bed was comfortable. Staff were pleasant. The only downside was my loyalty not being recognised other then a welcome drink voucher placed in the key.

Disappointing stay

Over the last six months I have stayed at the Mercure Rouse Hill on five separate occasions due to work and university commitments. It was a place where I felt welcomed and was allocated the same room each visit as the staff knew that I needed a quiet space with minimal disruptions. There has obviously been a significant change in staff as I was treated like a stranger. I was put in a room that was cramped,: it did not have the workspace or power outlets suitably located . As a result I had to ask for an extension cord so I could use my laptop. If I had only booked a one night stay then I would have gone home. However, as I booked and paid in full for four nights I begrudgingly made it work. You would think as a loyal Accor member and a frequent guest, it should account for something?! I wasn’t even asked how my stay was when checking out. Hence, using this platform to provide feedback. I won’t be returning.
