We are not new to the Charles Mantra in Launceston, and this has been our first “outing” since COVID 19 hit us all! We arrived to discover, no restaurant or bar, no room service between our two nights stay and no replacement towels. Well as a well travelled couple this experience in this level of accommodation was news And unexpected. The staff upon arrival were courteous and helpful. After the first night being awaken by a carpet cleaning machine across from the motel, when phoned for replacement towels as these were not part of the current service provision! We let the manager know about our unhelpful awakening and he sort to rectify the situation by coming to apologise for the noise, the hotel had apparently not been informed of the early start to the carpet cleaning and the extreme noise pollution, we had already left to find a breakfast place. He left two bottles of cordial as some kind of peace offering? When we returned to our room that evening, our room was not tidied nor our bed made. Both things that normally accompany a fully price stay in a hotel! As our record will clearly indicate we have stayed previously at this hotel! Using VOVID 19 as a reason that full service was not yet an up to the usual level, fell short of any explanation and expectation to what was to be a hassle free get away for my wife and me after a very long time of not travelling! We appreciate the assistant managers efforts, however it felt to little for our weekend away! You all don’t sit favourably in our minds. Unfortunately, as your hotel is the place we chose to stay at exclusive when visiting Launceston.

Disappointed about a carpet cleaner starting work in the clinic right outside our room at 6am in the morning and not finished until 11am. It was very hard to sleep, extremely loud and very unpleasant. However we understand this is no fault of the hotel. The hotel and staff itself we could not fault. Just wish the carpet cleaner didn’t have to start so early.

As a Mantra member I've stayed many times over the last 10 years for medical visits at the LGH. While the hotel was closed I had to stay at other hotels which were OK however no where near the quality of The Charles. I booked a King Room at the rear of the hotel and had the best sleep on a very comfy bed, extremely quiet room. I look forward to the restaurant reopening soon for my next stay. Staff were professional and very friendly and obviously very happy to be back at work.

Friendly staff. The bed that was put in the room to accomodate the 1 adult and 2 children (3&5) was unsleepable. Was as hard as the floor. Ended up having 3 of us in the main bed. Nothing else was open due to low occupancy so can’t comment on the food or beverages side of it. Currently nothing in mini bar, given the absolute bare minimum for normal cost. A little disappointed

We needed to stay near hospital so that was key, but wouldn't stay there for the price $169 , but we paid it because of location, getting dated still have those great big heavy useless orange chairs which are also looking old, and you almost need two people to move them.. carpet also looks sad.
