The hotel is depressing at every level. 1. Arrival. Reception has all the style of a Hertz Rental office. Getting to your room involves navigating an underground car park with no clear signage. The lifts are depressing and hallways smell of cheap deodorisers (all the time). 2. The Room The room is fine, but bland: - there is a car that is unusable and too big for the space - there isn't enough room to open the fridge door - there is no soap holder 3. The Pool The pool is nice and pleasant planting 4. Exit/Entry We stayed in Tower Two ... so this meant that exit and entry was via what appeared to be a service entry beside a food outlet. Arrival and departure was a constant disappointment. 5. Location Location was good. 6. Staff Staff were pleasant and helpful

We stayed at the Mantra in Cairns for three nights. It was a great location for easy access to cafes and restaurants and to nearby attractions. Secure parking was a must for us as we’re travelling on motorcycles.

The first room that we were allocated had no air-con and several black hairs were found on the bedspread. We needed a work area, so we requested a room change to a room with a desk. The staff were kind enough to move us to a room with a desk, however the room was in very poor condition. There were multiple unpainted repairs on the walls and nasty looking stains on the carpet. The furniture is worn out, with cupboard doors hanging off and a bed that has seen a lot of use. I understand that the last two years have been difficult for hotels, however it appears that no maintenance has been done for several years, which is inexcusable. There was certainly no value for the money that was charged for such a small hotel room.
