This is the 2 nd review i have submitted the last one just over a year ago and all i can say is what a difference a year makes. my last review was good, full of praise for food quality and staff etc this one however is not so great, im just sharing my own personal experiences and maybe being picky but this is what this forum is all about. 1st reception desk is just that, a small high table that in my opinion is far too small for purpose, you cannot check in 2 people at the same time which at busy times leads to people queueing , when you have driven a long way you dont need to be 20 mins plus checking in. 2nd a lot of the staff around 70% are from different countries making it difficult to either understand what they are saying or worse that they dont understand you , this is especially true in housekeeping and cleaning. 3. when the do not disturb sign is outside on my door handle i do not expect to be woken up from a deep sleep to be asked can the cleaner clean my room, this happened twice in 1 week. 4 please dont vacuum outside my bedroom door at 7.40 in the morning. 5 is it policy for cleaners to ask at about 9.30 on the morning of checkout what time you will be officially checking out? checkout is 12 so technically shouldnt be calling until at least 12. 6 food quality has gone down in my opinion to the point they have started to water down the apple/orange juice. also they have tweaked the menu choices a little offering far less than last time. 7 the reason i felt compelled to write this review was the sheer frustration of trying to voice my complaints to the hotel staff at the time of staying there, they refused to offer an email address and also stated that the manager leaves at around 3pm nearly everyday and doesnt want to bothered by there words ( petty grievances ) .8 having talked to some of the staff they mentioned that a management shake up had taken place in the last year and it honestly shows. 9 To charge £5.00 a day to park on top of the room price is just money grabbing. To finish in my honest opinion you can find just as cheap if not cheaper accommodation in the town with better facilities, better trained and helpful staff, better food and cheaper choices. The only redeeming feature of this hotel is the location which is pretty much in the town centre and on the river. Would not stop again.

After a very long journey, we have arrived late at night. A descent reception manager and a young lady have checked us in, they were very welcoming and friendly, also we have been offered a room upgrade. The river view of our room was astonishing early morning.

Good place to stay, food was lovely and staff were really friendly. Rooms were very clean and up to standard. Bed was very comfortable and had a good night sleep. Manger was pleasant and polite, nice to see management in the face of the job.

Have stayed a few times a year when coming to visit our son who lives nearby. Hotel not exactly beautiful from the outside but don’t let that put you off, inside is Modern and welcoming. Hotel staff were very friendly and looked after us. Breakfast looking over river was really nice.
