How surprised were we when saw the scary looking red lunar vehicle-like equipment while entering the hotel lobby! Staff in the restaurant on the Sunday did not give me a chance to use my membership related voucher… Appreciate it’s particular times nowadays but the experience was mixed. Thanks

When I booked the Mercure Antwerp City South hotel for 6 nights in October 2022, I thought I has made a good choice. I was particularly relived because it’s from the house of the Accor Group of Hotels. I have stayed at several Accor hotels in Europe in the past many years. There was. I separate check-in counter for Accor Plus members. However sadly this hotel is not as per Accor standards. The Interriors of the room a very very old. The bathroom and the shower are even older. The water form the hand shower has very low pressure. The shower gel and other toiletries are not that great either. During the last 2 days of my start the cooling systems stopped working, and the windows don’t open. It was 10 degrees outta it I was literally sweating in the room. When I informed her reception they tried their best to resolve it, but they couldn’t. They informed me that there is an issue with the cooling/heating systems and it’s currently being fixed. The breakfast was strictly okay. Very limited items. The only thing that works for the hotel is the staff. They are nice and helpful. I would never stay at this hotel again unless they renovate it.

Our room was heated to much. When arrived it was approx 21 degrees, so we have put on the airco. The night was too hot to sleep, so we left the hotel at 04.00 am to return home, without sleep. It appeared the airco during wintertime fuctions like a heating. The room temperature rose to 24 degree, windows could not be opened. We are awaiting a refund for our very inpleasant 'non-stay'. We recommend the hotel to put up a sign at the airco-switch that it functions like a heating during wintertime.

The hotel was very nice and the room also. Bathroom was clean as I expected. The breakfast in the morning was o.k. What I miss was the normal big selection before the corona.The hotel is very close to the motorway what is also very good.

The hotel needs an urgent upgrade into the 21th century. Rooms are worn out. The shower was beneath all standards. Only the evening diner and the breakfast were up to standard as well as the staff. So not the best price/quality ratio.

The "Mercure Antwerp City South" hotel is well located for people who would like to visit the fabulous city of Antwerp, but do not want to stay overnight in the city itself. Public transport is available at 5'min walking distance. Further it is located literally across the city's Olympic Swimming Pool, and again at 5'min walking distance of one of Antwerp's Cultural & Arts Houses: https://www.desingel.be. During my stay during the world championships cycling 2021, the hotel was host of the successful Italian and less successful Polish cycling teams. Further it is a spacious mid-scale hotel in a quiet area. Value for money, and nice breakfast. Easily changed my stay in a "late checkout". All fine. Will definitely return when attending a concert or exhibition at "DeSingel".

I stayed for over 30 days the breakfast was not the best but for why we were there was for medical reason and it was well placed for the hospital

Comfortable hotel, friendly , understanding staff but the hotel is unsave during covid because regulations are not enforced. Groups of maskless, partying people everywhere. Rowdy people on the corridor at 2 am. Security came when called but should have interfered earlier.

The entrance to the hotel looks good. Staff were friendly and responded quickly to pre arrival communication. Location is handy, a few free parking places and nearby tram or bus transportation to City Centre. But the good points stop there. I was told that upon check in (as a platinum member) that I had been upgraded to a "privilege" room. Not quite sure about the privilege bit - Privilege rooms usually have stocked (and free) drinks in the fridge. Mine had just water. But I was more concerned that the fridge was not clean (took a photo) and also the electrics seem to be way out of date - extension sockets link 3 appliances to the same plug. The lighting is so poor that it is quite difficult to read when in bed. And as for the lighting on the bathroom, you can hardly see yourself in the mirror, so impossible to shave. And when you pull the curtain when in the shower, well you're virtually in the dark. So I was rather disappointed with my stay here. The hotel rooms are in need of some serious renovation.
