When i arrived there was no towels and then the next day the room was not serviced. Not very good service in my opinion. The location was great so such a shame about room service.

Great new look, overall was a great stay. Would be amazing if the benedict eggs could be back on the breakfast menu :)

Two night break stay with my husband. We choose the hotel as it is in the lovely village of Iffley and is very easy to access the town centre either by walking via Iffley lock, or by bus which takes around ten minutes up to the high street. We have been to Oxford many times but have never stayed here before. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and informative. Our room was lovely and was on a floor on its own above other rooms. It was spacious and quiet with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. The breakfast was very good and there was a lady on our first morning who was so helpful and informative I would like to mention her. Unfortunately I do not know her name, but she had such a lovely friendly nature about her. All in all I cannot fault the hotel in any way. There is a nice heated outdoor area next to the bar which would be lovely on a summers evening to sit and have a drink at. Great stay all round!

More good points than bad. Room was smaller than expected and I hadn’t realised there was no bath. Paid more for a better room though not entirely sure what we got that was extra, apart from a coffee machine and robes both of which we hadn’t used. Loved the overall atmosphere, staff were all very polite and helpful. Evening meal experience not the best. Pre paid £16pp for 2 course evening meal. The choice wasn’t great so asked if we could get something off the set meal menu and we could pay the difference. We were charged for the whole main meal that wasn’t part of the set menu, rather than the difference - between what we’d already paid and the cost of the meal, so overcharged around £10. Also, felt the choice and quality of the evening meal generally quite poor. Breakfast was excellent. The range of food available was very good and all cooked well.

The room was well designed overall, modern and spacious with friendly and efficient service. The towels were thick and fluffy, as were the guest robes and the curtains ensured a dark room once the sun was up. The hotel was in a quiet location a 10 minute bus ride or twenty minute walk in the sun from Oxford centre which avoided tough parking. The main downside was the temperature . The room was very cold. We couldn't get the thermostat to raise the temperature ( partly as there were no clear instructions) so asked a member of desk staff who said he'd sort it while we were out, as well as deliver some coffee pods. But we returned late to a cold room although the settings had clearly been changed. We survived of course- it was a little like camping in a glamorous tent . I'm sure it was an anomaly but it would certainly put me off a Christmas stay. There were a couple of small details to note :the switch for one reading spot didn't flick at all - it was fixed rigid- so the light couldn't be used, the coffee machine used pod tray was overfull so machine wouldn't work until I emptied it ; and the open / doorless wardrobe seemed strange from an aesthetic perspective. On balance, I'd certainly consider using the hotel again if confident the temperature could be addressed or was just a one off.

Good Location, great staff !

Good location , obnly 30 minutes walk to Oxford city centre along the river path . Lots of free parking available . Beautiful decor , just been refurbished although not all bathrooms are the lovely blue & white tiled ones that are depicted on the photos. Outside terrace area nice for an eveing drink as heated . Food ok , quite average tbh , basic pub grub and looked as if frozen food rather than freshly prepared, defintely could be improvement in food offerings as the setting is so lovely. All staff so lovely though , reception staff, housekeeping staff , bar staff & manager all really welcoming and friendly. Excellent hotel and good base for exploring Oxford and surrounding area.

great place, great staff and food.

A couple of shortcomings. 1. In room 227, my electric shaver plug did not work. On reporting this someone came promptly to repair it but it still didn’t work. It would be good to ensure it IS repaired asap. 2. Guests serving themselves to hot breakfast undoubtedly saves staffing costs but little attempt seems to be made to keep the hot breakfast actually HOT. (No covers on foot containers)

Well located and more pleasant than a Premier Inn etc

Hotel staff very attentive and friendly, the beds in our room were so comfortable. The location is great to the City Centre and the hotel is so clean and well kept! Full recommend visiting this hotel!

Dear Imcphee, Thank you very much for your kind review, really appreciated and always a pleasure to receive positive feedback, a huge morale boost to the team. This also will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. I was pleased to note that you had enjoyed the newly renovated bedrooms and surrounding, all based on the history of Oxford fashion and the university. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the not too distant future. Kind regards Peter Peter Watt General Manager.
