Central but noisy!

Uncomfortable bed, window didn’t seal properly so heard all traffic/drunks all night. Spacious room but does exactly what it says on tin BUDGET!

Ideal for what we wanted

We were looking for a hotel in Lancaster as we were visiting our son who was at the nearby university. When we arrived, the lady at the reception area was helpful and friendly and once in our room, it had all the facilities we needed for a comfortable night's stay. The hotel is in a great location in the city centre with lots of places to eat and drink nearby. There is a small car park opposite the hotel but if it's full, as it was when we arrived, there is another car park nearby which is only a 5 minute walk.

Clean and comfortable.

The room was excellent and quieter than expected given the city centre location.

Last minute in an emergency

Thanks yo my wife's hospitalisation while on holiday I needed a bed in a hurry. The only place available was Ibis and I had to put up with the very high last minute charge. The reception was unhelpful and gave misleading advice on breakfast and car parking. The room was bare lacking any place to put belongings or even a chair to place my clothes overnight. Lighting at the bed was good but nowhere accessible to put things by the bed. Altogether very poor value for money - it might have been acceptable at home the price. I have been well satisfied in Ibis, Novotel and Mercure in the past but I shall avoid Ibis Budget in the future.

Good location and lovely welcome but the whole interior of the building was run down. Creaky floor boards, window doesn’t close properly. Very basic room with one chair and desk plus a bed. Wouldn’t recommend but did us for what we needed. Bed comfy enough.

Well located welcoming staff

I had to change rooms as the shower was running cold. I went back to the old room the next day to pick up my shower gel and it had gone. ( key card still worked) I would have been nice if someone when finding it would have delivered it to my new room. Apart from that it is ideal for our needs. More twin rooms would be good

Good location and rooms simple but tidy

Had a nice stay and the location is good. The room was clean abs tidy but no aircon so is very noisy with windows open. There is a pub next door so hear lots of noise with clattering glasses in the bins. The staff were friendly but we arrived slightly earlier than 2pm after my medical appointment and they tried to charge an early check in fee. If the room is ready I find this approach inappropriate.

In desperate need of a makeover

We have stayed in the hotel numerous times when it was a Travelodge, probably around sixty or seventy times over the ten years since it was built, as our son was at Lancaster Uni and now lives and works in the city. So we were keen to see how it had changed since becoming an Ibis and what improvements had been made. Well, none really. A picture has been taken down, the handwash/shower gel dispensers removed (badly) leaving an unslightly repair and the curtains have been changed - the cheapest, lowest quality curtains I think I've ever seen in a hotel and they're not even wide enough to draw properly. Everything else is as it was, the same carpet, the same marked and scuffed paintwork, the same bed and the same fittings, but all now looking distinctly grubby after ten years of use and in need of replacement, or at least a good clean. It seems the rooms have not even had the most basic of makeovers judging by the dust clinging to the walls and the spider webs on the ceiling. The stairs from the first to ground floor look like they've not been cleaned in some considerable time and felt dirty and unpleasant. But the one thing that has changed is the price - double or even triple what we previously paid. The hotel is now ten years old and needs a thorough clean, re-fit and re-decorate - something I had taken for granted would have been done as part of the change of ownership. We've always been happy with our visits here, pretty basic but very convenient and at a very reasonable price - now it seems we are getting the same (or less) for a considerably higher rate. We will be looking around at the alternatives before our next visit to the city.

Great location. Stayed here when golfing with mates and have stayed here with wife before. Needs a shed load of money spending on it. Only good for workmen and golf trips now unfortunately.

Tell it was previously a Travelodge- not that it mattered as the room was fine and the bed very comfortable. Check in staff very nice and efficient. Perfect place in the middle of town though might be noisier at the weekends, it was fine for me on business midweek. Would happily stay here again.
