The physical renovation is quite striking--in a positive way. Yet, I found the staff to be as warm and welcoming, as always--from the reservationist to the doormen to the front desk staff (and management) to the housekeepers to the person answering when I called Guest Services. (I've been a regular guest here for more than 20 years.)

All staff very friendly, efficient and professional, hotel facilities very good, restaurant / bar very good, location excellent between 5th Avenue and 7th for Time Square, close to everything with some excellent restaurants close by !!!

Although I am a Gold member, I was disappointed that I did not receive any upgrade, even though I had clearly mentioned that my stay was for my honeymoon. I was expecting at least a small gesture or some personalized service, as is common in hotels of this level. Unfortunately, there was hardly any extra attention or care during our stay. Compared not only to other Sofitel hotels but also to other luxury hotels outside the group, this experience was well below expectations, especially considering the special occasion of our trip.
