Stayed here several times as I prefer the location of the hotel. I booked the renovated suite room and fairly satisfied. As a Diamond member, i am disappointed for the lack of acknowledgement from the hotel this time. No welcome note, no welcome amenities, nothing was done to make your loyalty to the Accor brand appreciated. Maybe its a misstep on their part and I am not the kind who will demand and complain. Service is always important for me but this time it was a bit of a letdown.

The hotel is in a great spot away from much of the hustle and bustle in Times Square. However, the elevator buttons and room card swiping required worked only part of the time. Similarly, the water fill station on my floor was not operating at full capacity. It's a beautiful hotel with great staff and a lovely gym set up. Sofitel could also take more care in checking which guests have status. As a Diamond member, I was neither thanked for my loyalty nor provided with the little surprise and delights that other Le Accor hotels do.

Booked a 2night stay to celebrate my 50th Birthday in NYC, that had to be extended for an extra two days due to a blizzard and our flight cancelled.The staff from the door to check-in and housekeeping and restaurant was top notch. Would I stay again, well of course.

Due to a city-wide outage, the hotel had no hot water or heat for over 12 hours — a serious disruption, particularly given the cold weather. My primary concern is not the outage itself, as I understand that certain circumstances are beyond the hotel's control. What I found deeply disappointing was the complete lack of proactive communication from your staff. I had to call the front desk myself to inquire whether something was wrong, and again to request an update. At no point was I (I don't know about other guests) informed of the situation or offered any acknowledgment of the inconvenience. As a guest paying over $200 per night at a luxury property, I expect a baseline level of communication and transparency — especially during a disruption of this magnitude. The Sofitel brand carries a standard of excellence, and this experience fell well short of it.

We were notified by New York City authorities of emergency steam work in the surrounding area Sunday March 1st which led unforeseen outage that impacted multiple businesses in the neighborhood, including our hotel. The recent renovation is purely cosmetic: under the skin pretty much nothing has changed. Looks like a cheap excuse to raise rates to crazy levels. The Sofitel NY has been my hotel of choice for decades but that will change.
