Verne K Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

This room was very confusing with too many mirrors at right angles. Trying to simulate the Versailles Hall of Mirrors? The room was not well maintained: door gasket loose, WiFi tablet linked to phone not working. The hotel was ~3.5km from the important tourist sites, necessitating a cab or Uber. Other concerns included very dark light switches forcing a learning curve to operate the lights. More issues: very limited drawer space, shower open on back side allowing water on the floor, backwards toilet paper holder frequently letting the roll drop to the floor, only one restaurant with a limited menu. Also road construction in front of the hotel.

We visited the hotel for two nights in conjunction with a river cruise. There is substantial street work in front of the hotel making access difficult and somewhat hazardous, e.g., walking over a plank bridge to get to street. The mirrored doors in our room made nighttime navigation confusing and hazardous. (One of us took a “face plant” during a 3AM bathroom visit.) The bathroom arrangement offered little privacy. The room was adequate , though its furnishings and carpets appeared worn. It appeared that more than one tour group was resident and the breakfast buffet service and eating areas were crowded and chaotic , e.g., 5-6 deep lines to use automatic coffee machines. All-in-all, an adequate hotel for tour groups, but not one we will seek out again.

This is truly an oasis in Paris, The room that we had was clean, and big enough to not feel crowded, the breakfast is top notch. My only complaint would be that we could not stay longer, and we felt the same way last summer when we stayed here after a cruise. The general manager Jaime Faus is running this place like a well oiled machine!

I booked a room specifically advertised with a view of the Sacré-Cœur, but upon arrival, I get a semi-blocked view of it. What made it worse was the reception manager’s unhelpful attitude—finding every excuse not to resolve the issue. I was told I couldn’t change rooms because I had already stepped inside (less than a minute), and they’d have to clean it again. I then asked to switch for the 2nd and 3rd nights, but they continued giving excuses for why it wasn’t possible. Overall, I strongly do not recommend this hotel. The service was dismissive and unprofessional. Not to mention… people have to wait in a long queue to get into the breakfast restaurant. Wait more than 1hr to get room service, having to call 3 times to remind them. Customer service say, this is a more than 1000 room hotel, so the waiting time is expected 🤷‍♀️

It took me a few days to decide on which hotel to book, as Paris has so many to choose from. Price was a big factor and we wanted to stay medium range but also have value for money. We looked at many others but they either offered a very small bedroom, no views and no breakfast. I did have the Voco booked round the corner but on Bastille day I did another search as I thought availability may have changed after the BH. I was right, the Pullman came up at a good rate for a deluxe twin and breakfast. SO we arrive and we’re blown away by this hotel. Lovely welcome and spacious lobby offering snacks, drinks, phone charging. Lovely space to chill after a full day sightseeing. All the front office team were lovely and welcoming too. We arrived early 0900 and could not check in until 3pm. We checked in our bags, freshened and off we went to explore. We checked slightly earlier and everything we needed to know explained. Our room was fantastic, lovely large bathroom with separate toilet, lots of wardrobe space, mini fridge (with water) coffee machine, kettle and fabulous city views. Two lovely large twin beds and lots of space. Breakfast was fantastic too, there was so much choice and it was good. We stayed for three nights and would stay here again so I definitely recommend this hotel. Location was brilliant too, it was right opposite the train station with easy access to the metro. Thank you Pullman team.
